Following her departure from A&M Records, singer-songwriter Brenda Russell released her third album, Two Eyes, in 1983 on Warner Bros. Produced by Tommy LiPuma, it includes appearances by Michael McDonald, Rita Coolidge, Pattie Brooks, Randy Crawford, Christopher Cross, James Ingram, Patrice Rushen, Joe Esposito, Leon Ware, Stevie Wonder, and Al Jarreau, the latter being the subject of the track "Jarreau." Although Two Eyes did not chart, it is considered one of the strongest albums in Brenda's catalogue. Five years later, Brenda would return to A&M Records and release her most successful album yet, Get Here, featuring the hit "Piano in the Dark."
